Blog marketing is a new concept to many people in the blogging community. For whatever reason, it has not occurred to them that they can earn an income from their blog. How much can you earn? Well the answer to that really depends on you. The harder you work at Blog Marketing–the more time you devote to it– the better your chance at making your blog more and more profitable. It is simply a matter of promoting your blog vigorously and attracting as many readers as possible.

There are a few free tools and proven techniques out there which can be employed to market your blog to the web. The majority of the blogs on the internet have their comment section enabled. Even if they moderate it, you still have the opportunity to post a comment as long as you are offering quality content and are not just blatantly spamming to get your link included. Backlinks eventually attract more readers and are advantageous to your Google rankings. Something you should be aware of is that many blogs have the Do Not Follow command active—but this should not dissuade you from making your comments.

Remember, your comments are going to be high quality and add valuable content to the blog you are visiting, right? Well, that quality and valuable information will eventually ensnare your reader. So much so, that their curiosity will force them to make the extra effort to type your link address in their browser. If your comments are good enough, they will want to see what further value you are offering on your own blog. Perhaps, even the blog publisher himself will pay a visit to your blog. These new visitors may even bookmark your site or join your RSS feed becoming regular readers. It is all a part of the strategy to get yourself noticed.

Although this should be obvious, remember that you are looking to post comments only on blogs that are in either the same niche as yours or a clearly related one. The whole point is to attract traffic that is interested in your topic and may be convinced to buy your products. Traffic from a video game blog is not likely to have much interest in mortgage rates, so you wasted your time on that one. You can search Google for a list of blogs in your niche, and then find out their Alexa score to see what their ranking is. You are looking for authority sites to post in. That kind of backlinks raise your quality score more quickly. A rise in your page rank usually follows.

If you have already got your blog set up, and it is making you a little income, you should consider reinvesting some of that money back into your business. Investigate the paid directories. Be warned, they are choosy, they do not take just anyone. But if you are accepted by them and listed in the directory, there are two bonuses. First off, paid directory sites usually have a good page rank, again helping your quality score. Secondly, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve been admitted to a listing that consists of the best of the best.

It goes without saying, you must keep posting new content to your blog regularly, if not daily. Otherwise, all the work you’ve done to market your blog will be wasted. Your readers want to know that when they return you will have posted new content. Fresh content is what keeps them returning to your blog regularly. Each return visit gives you another opportunity to build your relationship with them, as well as, to make a sale.

Blog marketing can be your ticket to your first online income. Or, stepping up your promotion strategies can take your income to the next level. Marketing takes the same amount of effort and passion as posting to your blog. You get out what you put in it, and it is just as rewarding.
